We are delighted to announce that the winner of our Rising Star 2015 competition is young event rider, Alice Goring from Surrey.
23 year old Alice is an amateur event rider who balances a full time job in London in Allergy Research, with riding and competing three horses.
Alice has advanced from BE100 to Intermediate with her main horse, The Little Frenchman who stands at just 15hh. In addition to having the ride on Schwepps a 15.2hh gelding, she is also bringing on her youngster Jasper, who she bought as an unbroken 4 year old and is proving to be a talented jumper.
Having three eventers in the top three finalists meant that the Equilibrium panel of judges had a tough decision to make when choosing the overall winner.
Alice was chosen by the panel after carefully considering the attributes of all three shortlisted riders who included Laura Durkin from West Sussex and Tamsin Drew from Hertfordshire.
The Equilibrium panel of judges included Joanna Browne, HORSE magazine editor, Richard Waygood MBE, Chef d’Equipe of the senior British dressage team and the European CIC2* Eventing team and equine nutritionist, Ruth Bishop.
The judges said, “As you can imagine, our decision wasn’t an easy one as we felt that all three riders shortlisted were worthy of this title and deserve recognition for their talents. However, Alice impressed us with her dedication to her horses and her sport. It was clear that Alice is prepared to work hard to achieve her goals and has a clear aim to help her get there”.
Laura Cutter, Marketing Manager at Equilibrium says, “Alice is a very capable rider with a determination to have horses in her life in a serious way and we are delighted to be able to support her in achieving her goals.”
Along with the title of Equilibrium’s Rising Star 2015, Alice wins £1000 worth of product from Equilibrium and the company’s support throughout the year.
We would like to thank everyone who entered this year’s competition and to all who voted for their favourite rider. Our Rising Star sponsorship competition will continue into 2016 under a slightly different format, please check our website for details. Read Alice’s full story on www.equilibriumproducts.com/
