The Equestrian Index HOYS Trade Stand of the Year Awards (TOTY) are designed to recognise exhibitor talents in trade stand dressing and etiquette throughout the show week. All trade stands by way of exhibiting are automatically entered into the awards which have two sections; Best Display 20sqm and under and Best Display over 20sqm.

Judging for the awards took place anonymously over Wednesday and Thursday of the show during trading hours. Every trade stand (and team) were observed and assessed across four categories; best overall impression, warmest welcome, best use of space and best interaction with customers.

The winner of the 20sqm and under category in 2024 was Chic Cheval Brush Store. Anita Dodd, Founder of Chic Cheval was shocked and delighted to receive the TOTY title. Judge feedback was that the stand space was used to create maximum impact in the space, was brilliantly and effectively displayed and Anita, who managed the stand almost entirely single handedly, went above and beyond to inform, educate and deliver a great customer experience.

Crafty Ponies were awarded Highly Commended for their under 20sqm stand. The tour de force mother and daughter team of Karen and Tamzin brought colour and fun to learning with their fabulous soft toy ponies with a huge range of accessories that look and work just like the ‘real thing’.

Taking the honours in the over 20sqm was Joshua Jones UK (top image). Their elegant, stylish, eye-catching stand was open and impressive. The team went above and beyond to ensure that every customer’s needs were attended to, and purchases were fitted to perfection which played a significant part in their victory. The judges’ feedback was that the stand was stunning, and staff really did go the extra mile to provide a first-class service to visitors despite often being inundated.

Epico Equestrian were awarded Highly Commended for their over 20sqm stand. This stand is front and centre as you enter the Retail Village, and founder Steph Gardiner and team created an absolutely stunning space with some of the most welcoming staff, setting the tone beautifully for visitors.

Amanda Watson, Managing Director at The Equestrian Index, and Carl Storey, Tradestand Manager at Horse of the Year Show, awarded both worthy winners with a trophy and certificate alongside the choice of a year’s digital membership or a ‘This Business of Horses’ podcast episode with The Equestrian Index.

Amanda Watson, Managing Director at The Equestrian Index said, “2024 has been another seriously tough year for the judges. Making a final decision is always challenging and for HOYS 75th anniversary, we have seen a phenomenal amount of effort on display from all exhibitors. Congratulations to all and what a fantastic shopping experience you have given all the HOYS visitors yet again!”
