Open Afternoons

Tuesday 6th May 2025 - 12.30pm - 3.30pm
Tuesday 24th June 2025 - 12.30pm - 3.30pm

Our Open Afternoons are designed for parents, guardians, potential learners, careers advisors and those with a general interest in pursuing a career in the equestrian industry.

During the event, our team will guide you around the facilities at Doncaster Equine College and you will learn more about equestrian courses and career opportunities.

Taster Days - Try Before You Apply

Tuesday 24th June 2025 - 9am - 12pm
Tuesday 15th July 2025 - 9am - 12pm

If you’re aged 14 – 18-years-old, our FREE taster sessions are your chance to experience what Doncaster Equine College is really like.

You will meet our expert teaching staff, experience real course activities and get up close and personal with our horses; plus, you’ll meet other potential students so there are familiar faces when you enrol.

Doncaster Equine College Annual Show

Sunday 18th May 2025

Our annual showing show proves a popular setting for both public competitors and Doncaster Equine College learners, all competing for the top spot in exciting in-hand and ridden showing classes. 

DEC learners are given the opportunity to compete, either ridden or in-hand, or assist with the event planning and organisation of the event, giving them valuable experience and knowledge in the process. 

The event also welcomes members of the public to enjoy the show.

Level 1 Horse Care Course

This one-year Horse Care course is available for those aged 16+ and is designed to provide students with the skills and a vocational qualification so they can work within the equine industry.

A rider or non-rider option is available and previous experience with horses is not required for this course. A minimum of Entry Level 3 in GCSE English and Maths is required to apply.

Level 2 Technical Certificate in Horse Care

The Level 2 Technical Certificate in Horse Care is suitable for those who have achieved Level 1 in Horse Care or have relevant industry experience.

This one-year Horse Care course is available for those aged 16+ and is designed to provide students with the skills and a vocational qualification so they can work within the equine industry. A rider or non-rider option is available.

A minimum of Entry Level 4 in GCSE English and Maths, or Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths, is required to apply.

Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Equine Management

This two-year Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma is available for those who have achieved a Level 2 Technical Certificate in Horse Care qualification. 

A rider or non-rider option is available. A minimum of Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths, or GCSE 4 or above in English and Maths, plus two other GCSEs at 4 or above and candidates must have significant experience with horses.

Apprenticeships in the Equine Industry

Apprenticeships are an excellent alternative to a full-time college course. They offer an exciting way to earn and learn and the potential to gain an academic award.

We offer the Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship and the Level 3 Senior Equine Groom Apprenticeship.
